AAA Recycling Pty Ltd contacted Ivolution Consulting to gain more prominence with Google for its key business service in its prime trading area for the search term ‘bottle recycling salisbury’. The business also wished to attract major event clients in the wider Adelaide metropolitan area.
There was also a desire to displace a dominant competitor currently occupying the prime spot.
Our first task involved cleaning up AAA Recycling’s Google services, connecting them all to a single Gmail account, removing old and duplicate business listings and optimising their Google My Business account.
Setting up a Google My Business / Plus account correctly is the most important aspect of any ‘Local’ SEO work. It lets Google know where you are. The aim is to occupy one of the 3 Google Places spots below the map on the search results page – if you can attain the first position that’s even better.
EVERYTHING matters when you set up a Google My Business account; the business categories you choose, your trading area, how and what you name your photos, business description and most importantly, business name, address & phone number (NAP).
It’s not only essential for your SEO work, a Google My Business account also records a lots of important information. Every 7, 30 or 90 days it will tell you how many people clicked through to your website, used it for driving directions to your business and, best of all … how many people phoned your business.
Occupying one of the 3 Google Places listings also makes it easy for people to find you and call you on their mobile devices (see right).
Other Google Services connected included Google Analytics & a Google Map (associated to the business – not just the street address).
A common issue that Ivolution Consulting encounters when setting up Google services correctly involves unravelling multiple Gmail accounts. We regularly have to remove multiple, duplicate Google My Business pages and YouTube Channels.
Our initial research in November 2015 uncovered 80 citations with business name, address & phone number variations. Of these, we managed to update around 50 (many of the old directories had neither a contact facility or edit / delete function).
More than 50% of AAA Recycling’s online business listings were associated with its former business name. In combination with the remaining listings’ business name, address and phone number variations it was obvious why the company was unable to gain any prominence with Google.
Our work delivered immediate results, having 50 consistent citations working for the business instead of against it catapulted AAA Recycling into the No. 1 Google My Business spot and also moved its organic SERP listing onto the first results page for the chosen search term ‘bottle recycling salisbury‘. It also achieved the first organic listing for its broader search term ‘adelaide event recycling‘.
AAA Recycling’s website had recently been redeveloped prior to Ivolution Consulting’s involvement, therefore we had to optimise it as best we could. This was particularly challenging as several of the key pages had very little content for us to work with.
AAA Recycling Pty Ltd has displaced it main competitor and now occupies the 1st Google My Business / Plus position, its SERP listing also ranks highly for the search term ‘bottle recycling salisbury’. In addition to this, it has attained the first organic search result for ‘adelaide event recycling‘. Website traffic is already increasing as are the number of inbound phone calls. This trend will continue to improve every month.
Not 1c has been invested in ongoing SEO since the work was undertaken in November 2015.
